CARE OF THE SOLE What does your foot have to do with your posture?
In one word: EVERYTHING.
Have you ever sprained an ankle, had a blister, or any other injury to the foot or ankle. You may start to favor one side of the body over the other, and then something else begins to hurt. Maybe you feel a pain in your lower back because of how you shifted your weight to avoid the bad foot. When the foot is not functional, the rest of the body can’t be either, and will compensate to avoid aggravating the injured foot.
And just as the foot affects the entire body, the entire body affects the foot. If you have any compensation at all (meaning that you are not moving the way you should be) then your feet are going to feel it. For example, if one of your shoulders is elevated, then the weight cannot be evenly distributed through the feet. Multiply that times the number of steps you take in a day and the feet will start to develop different patterns than they should. Unfortunately, the feet will always take the brunt of a dysfunctional body.
Knowing that, my advice would be, "Do Foot Circles Everyday!”
Foot Circles do two things. 1. They re-establish muscle balance in the lower leg, foot, and ankle. 2. They stabilize the hips, which will help balance the rest of your body.
Here’s how you do the exercise. Lie on your back. Start with your right leg out straight on the floor. Interlace your hands behind your left knee. Your right thigh should be tight and the right toes pulled back toward your knee. Circle your left ankle 40 times one direction, then 40 the other direction, and then 40 times straight up and down (point- flex). Your ankle will probably be burning. After doing 40-40-40 switch sides and do your right foot.
Doing foot circles daily will help strengthen your feet, and in turn your entire body.
